Professional ideologies, such as "objective journalism" or "civic journalism," are mostly discussed with reference to journalism's social function and epistemological concerns (and sometimes also with respect to ethical issues), but often enough there is not much conceptual overlap between these perspectives. The theory-driven approach offered by this paper allows us to systematically map, compare, and classify professional ideologies within a seven-dimensional space of journalism cultures.» Cf.
